‘Ummmm, seriously guys they’re right behind…’ ’shhhhhh, just ignore them’ were the words coming out of Manchester last night after Newcastle United kept up their unbeaten run to go third in the Premier League table. Fans of both Manchester clubs are now debating as to what point they should start actually accepting that Alan Pardew exists and that Demba Ba is quite clearly playing better than Wayne Rooney.
City boss Roberto Mancini said ‘it’s weird, I look at the table and there just appears to be some big gap in-between us and Chelsea; like there should be a club we’re taking notice of there, a really big club with lots of great history, but I can assure you, we’re not. If it was something to be worried about the press would probably be reporting on it wouldn’t they?’
Newcastle are now just five points behind Manchester City in top spot but when asked if they were considered title contenders Mancini added ‘Newcastle United? I’ve heard of them, sure. I would consider them title contenders if they changed their name to something a bit more Arsenalish. That or they signed Wayne Rooney.’
